G. The Vampyre de John Polidori é geralmente considerado o progenitor da literatura com vampiros. O conto foi escrito em Genebra, por ocasião de uma competição de contos de terror sugerida por Lord Byron. Nessa mesma altura Mary Shelley escreveu Frankenstein. O livro de Polidori teve uma enorme influência em Bram Stoker.
